I asked specialist Maria Bniñska, who has the rules of good behavior in her blood, to collect the most important rules that will help all guests to find themselves in the hotel reality. If we look at savoir-vivre as if it were kindness, then everything becomes clear and simple. We should be kind not only to ourselves, but above all to the people we are dealing with.

WHAT IS A HOTEL SAVOIR-VIVRE?

A separate hotel savoir-vivre does not really exist, because kindness applies to us everywhere, not only in the hotel. Of course, you can make some rules more specific. First of all, let’s remember that we are not alone in the hotel, so let’s be kind to other guests and to the hotel staff.

Friendliness is the best answer to frequently asked questions about how to behave in a given situation. Good hotel service will not allow anyone to commit a gaffe. They will always behave with understanding, subtly and tactfully.

In every cheap hotel Manchester, regardless of the number of stars, we must follow a few basic rules. First of all, the night silence. It is worth remembering that the walls dividing individual rooms are rarely medieval defensive walls, so let’s behave in moderation, especially after 22:00.

In the corridors, in the elevator, restaurant or hotel bar we talk in a half-voice, paying attention to children, who should not run in the corridors and make noise. The hotel corridor is not a playground.

HOW TO BEHAVE AT THE RECEPTION DESK?

First of all, let’s be friendly towards the hotel’s employees. Sometimes you have to be patient and just wait in line. We will certainly be served.

In many hotels the reception desk is also a place where there is a free Internet connection. If we want to use it, remember that there are other people next to us, also using the available connection. That is, according to the principle of kindness, let’s try not to make noise and not to disturb the pleasure of surfing. If we want to talk e.g. via Skype with our family – let’s use headphones.

HOW TO BEHAVE IN THE HOTEL ROOM?

Let’s respect the furniture and equipment located in the hotel room, because they are not our property. If something does not work as it should – do not fix it yourself, just inform the reception. Every cheap hotel Manchester has its own “golden hand”.

In the rooms let’s try not to make any noise, not to listen to music loudly and … limit the sounds of pleasure. As I mentioned, the walls dividing the hotel rooms are not medieval defensive walls.

At the end of your stay you can take only disposable items from the room: shampoos, conditioners or disposable bath caps. We do not take towels, bathrobes, mugs or glasses.

If we collect hotel ashtrays – ask at the reception if we can just buy them. By the way – in most hotels there is a smoking ban, which we strictly observe.

The minibar is usually additionally paid, and the fridge, usually very small, is not for us to store our own food in it. Anyway, in many hotels – it is worth remembering this – you pay for the minibar when you take a bottle out of the fridge.

Leaving the hotel, we leave the room as close as possible to what it was when we moved in.

HOW TO BEHAVE IN A RESTAURANT AND A BAR?

Both in the restaurant and in the hotel bar we are bound by exactly the same rules as in other restaurants or bars. With one basic difference – we do not take out either food or drinks.

When using the buffets we do not put more on the plate than we are able to eat. In all hotels – B&B, HB or all inclusive – you can take refills. So let’s approach food and drink in moderation, especially alcoholic beverages.

HOW TO BEHAVE BY THE POOL, IN THE SPA OR IN THE GYM?

Just like in the whole hotel – let’s be kind to others. We do not book deck chairs, do not place screens on the hotel beach, do not listen to music loudly, do not shout. We take care of children so that they do not disturb other guests in their rest. Let’s read and follow the internal rules of use of the swimming pool, SPA or gym.

TO WHOM DO I GIVE TIPS?

As a standard, in hotels, tips are given to the doorkeeper, baggage handler, concierge (if we have used his services), waiters and room service providers (we leave the tip visible in the room). The amount of the tip is an individual matter. In restaurants it is usually 10-20% of our bill. In other cases, remember that the tip should not be derogatory – it is not a way to get rid of unwanted small items.
